RED CARPET REVIEW: Baywatch the Movie

Baywatch was one of the most popular televisions shows of all time. It would only be a matter of time before it would be adapted for the big screen. This summer, film critic Rich Twilling and I debuted our new movie review show, The Red Carpet Movie Review, and we decided this would be the perfect episode to launch the channel. After all, at the very least, it promised to be entertaining even if it was in a cheesy fashion. Unfortunately, this film lost much of the charm and tongue-in-cheek humor that made the original such a success.

While Baywatch the series was known for its beautiful bikini babes and this movie had plenty of those, filmmakers decided to focus on hunks The Rock Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron who took the torch from David Hasselhoff and David Charvet.

I was not a huge fan of the TV show, but I would sometimes watch just for the eye candy like Pamela Anderson, Nicole Eggert and Brooke Burke. The film had some gorgeous ladies like Bollywood superstar Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach, but their performances did not contain the goofy fun that the stars of the series showcased weekly. Not that we went into this movie looking for world-class acting, but we at least wanted an escapist experience and some good laughs. The only comedy to be found here was unintentional.
